Becky Hopkin is the founder of Digital Gearbox, a specialist pay-per-click agency based in Bicester, Oxfordshire.
Having helped Modus with their own PPC campaigns, Becky is a favourite with the team and in December 2021 Becky kindly took the time to sit down with us and talk with us.
When did you start working with Modus Accountants and what do they support you with?
We’ve been working with Modus for about a year and a half, and they have been helping us with everything to do with managing our accounts. So, our VAT returns, the bookkeeping, the corporation tax, everything you need from your accountant.
But much more than that, they’ve been helping us with business support and planning for the future, and various things really. You’d be surprised the amount of the amount of support you can get from Modus that’s beyond accountancy.
What was the biggest challenge facing your business before joining Modus?
When I first started working with Modus, the biggest thing I needed help with was the planning element for my business. I knew what I didn’t want to do with it, but I hadn’t mapped out exactly what I wanted to achieve with it. So, they helped me carve that all out and make a plan, giving me the steps I needed to do to achieve it.
What surprised you about Modus Accountants?
What surprised me the most about working with Modus is the honesty that you get. I think you don’t want people to tell you what you want to hear sometimes. You want people, that tell you what you need to hear, and so I think that’s a surprising element of their service.
How does Modus compare to other accountants you have used?
Compared to my experience with other accountants Modus were always there to talk to you whenever you’ve got a problem. It’s not just sending you reports, its regular communication, looking at numbers, thinking about what they mean, and what they mean to me as a business owner and my goals. So, yeah, the ongoing communication and support is what really makes Modus different.
Would you recommend Modus Accountants to other business owners?
I would definitely recommend Modus to other business owners. From day one they’ve made me feel really valued as a client, and they really helped my business grow.
What’s next for Digital Gearbox?
In 2022, I am looking forward to continuing to grow Digital Gearbox with the help of Modus Accountants. I’m not quite sure what that looks like yet. But I know that I’ve got the team around me, both my team and their team, that’s going to make that happen.
