Witney & West Oxfordshire Foodbank – Modus Charity

The last few months have been tough for lots of families across Oxfordshire. With the shutdown of key industries and thousands of redundancies and furloughed staff, people have faced loss of income, housing and access to food.

Although we have had to pause some activities in our sister divisions (Modus Property and Modus Lets), Modus Accountants has been fortunate to continue operating throughout the pandemic. We realise how lucky we have been to be able to do this and want to make sure we are doing our bit to support our local community.

Therefore, this month we will be donating provisions to the Witney and West Oxfordshire Food Bank who provide emergency food parcels of non-perishable food items (and occasionally toiletries) to people who are experiencing an unexpected crisis.

Clients of the foodbank are referred from various professionals working in the community – including, but not limited to Citizens Advice Bureau, Job Centre, doctor/GP and other health workers, primary and secondary education professionals – who assess each client’s situation to verify their crisis and need. This makes sure that everything donated goes to the people that need it the most. Below are few stats about what they have done so far:

  • 1,606 People helped in 2018-2019
  • 611 Emergency food parcels given out in 2018-2019
  • 19,200 KGs of food donated in 2018-2019
